Dashen Bank has contracted for the construction of two branches in the Ethiopian towns of Gondar and Dire Dawa. The
construction projects are expected to cost a total of 103.5 million birr.
The construction of the Dashen branch in the Northern town of Gondar will be carried out by Orbit Engineering plc. The contractor won the project for 37.5 million birr and took charge of the building site last week.
Orbit has committed to complete the construction project within 10 months according to Bekalu Menda, owner and manager of Orbit. The company is able to finalize the project in such a short period of time because most of the structural work is already complete except for finishing touches explained Bekalu.
Kulebi Construction Enterprise won the bid to construct the Dashen Bank in Dire Dawa for 66 million birr.
The design and supervision of the construction of the two banks is being overseen by Ultimate Plan plc, a firm of architects and engineers offering consulting services.
It is to be remembered that Dashen Bank recently launched services for UnionPay Card this week. This service is aimed to serve the increasing numbers of Union Card holders including the growing number of Chinese citizens in Ethiopia.
It is expected that agreement with UnionPay, which has over 2.5 billion clients worldwide, will significantly influence the growth of Dashen according to the President of the Bank.
