World Remit, provider of online money transfer services, launched this week an online money transfer service which makes it possible for Ethiopians living abroad to send money back home using a variety of payment options like debit cards, credit cards and Interac Online (Canada).

The new partnership with WorldRemit would further extend the range of money transfer services available to Ethiopian diaspora members who regularly send money back home, Haimanot Amare, Director-Foreign Transfer and NR/NT Accounts, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, said.

Haimanot said that the collaboration would accelerate CBE's strategy to expand its network of worldwide money transfer and range of services available to Ethiopians living away from their home land.

The new service, in partnership with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, enables customers to send money from the privacy and convenience of their home or office 24/7.

Recipients can collect cash from any of the 390 plus branches of the Commercial Banak of Ethiopia as well as its 80 payout locations in Addis Ababa. As soon as a transaction is processed, the recipient gets an SMS on their cell phone notifying them that they can pick up cash from the bank's nearest branch.
