The Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with four Chinese companies on the margins of the Belt and Road Forum (BRF) in Beijing, China.
Ethiopia and China signed a $1.8 billion investment agreement. The agreement covers provision of electric power transmission and distribution lines. The signing of the agreement came following Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed meeting officials of State Grid Corporation of China in Beijing. On Ethiopia's part, Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance and Economic Cooperation inked the agreement.
