Ethiopia - EU Investment Forum Opens in Paris to Strengthen Economic Ties

The Ethiopia–European Union Investment Forum opened today, November 3, 2025, in Paris, bringing together key institutions from Ethiopia, France, and other EU member states to strengthen trade and investment relations.

Organized in collaboration with MEDEF International and the European Commission, the forum focuses on four priority sectors: aviation, renewable energy, transport and logistics infrastructure, and digital telecommunications. The initiative aims to deepen economic cooperation and foster sustainable growth between Ethiopia and the EU.

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Gideon Timothewos described the event as a major step toward achieving inclusive growth by connecting Europe and Ethiopia through innovation and infrastructure development. Finance Minister Ahmed Shide highlighted that Ethiopia is entering a new era of economic transformation driven by homegrown reforms and the implementation of its 10-year development plan.

MEDEF CEO Philippe Gautier stated that European investors recognize Ethiopia’s strong potential, citing its rapid economic growth and prospects for green development, digital advancement, and transport modernization.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening trade, investment, and economic cooperation under this growing partnership.
