Hawassa’s Investment Promotion Bureau has granted investment licenses to 12 local investors with a combined registered capital of Birr 4.6 billion in various sectors during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

The licenses cover industries, hotels, lodges, and other service sectors. The bureau stated that efforts were underway to enhance Hawassa's appeal for investment, with extensive work being done to attract both local and foreign investors across different industries. A detailed study has been conducted to attract more investors, with over 70 hectares of land prepared for development. The office also stated that it monitored and supported investors who have acquired land but haven't initiated development according to their plans.
