
The Council of Ministers approved a draft budget of Birr 801.6 billion for the 2023/2024 Ethiopian fiscal year.
The budget was prepared with the goal of maintaining national security, helping citizens displaced by natural and man-made disasters, rebuilding infrastructure damaged by conflict, and achieving social and economic transformation.
The budget is divided into four main areas: regular expenses of the federal government, capital expenses, support to regional states, and implementation of sustainable development goals. The regular expenses of the federal government are allocated Birr 369.6 billion, capital expenses were allocated Birr 203.9 billion, support to regional states was allocated Birr 214.07 billion, and the implementation of sustainable development goals was allocated Birr 14 billion.
