The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) renewed and issued over 2.2 million business licenses in the past nine months of the 2022/2023 fiscal year.

According to Belaynesh Kassa, MoTRI’s Public Relations Head, the Ministry has made significant progress towards its goal of providing 2,372,076 trade registration and licensing services during the budget year. So far, around 2,275,429 trade registrations and licensing have been completed through online and formal systems, which represents 96% of the plan in just nine months.

Digital registration and renewal systems are expected to minimize the inconvenience of traders in terms of cost and time in addition to curbing maladministration. Accordingly, the Ministry was able to deliver 1,269,835 services online, which is 120% more than its original target which aimed at providing 1,054,178 digital services.
