The Sidama Regional State Trade and Industry Bureau has organized an exhibition and bazaar in Hawassa city under the theme “Productivity of Our Industries for Our Propsperity”, featuring 120 local manufacturing industries.
During the opening ceremony, Sidama's Regional Council Speaker Fantaye Kebede emphasized the significant role of the manufacturing sector in reducing imports. Ashagre Jembre, the Head of the Trade and Industry Bureau of the Regional State, stated that there were 181 industries in the region, and efforts were being made to encourage local producers to embrace the concept of Ethiopia Tamrit – a movement which was launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed with the aim of realizing a competitive manufacturing industry by solving the bottlenecks in the sector.
The region's industries are also focusing on producing high-quality goods. Ashagre Jembre stressed the importance of creating a favorable environment for consumers by expanding industrial production in various areas. The four-day exhibition and bazaar is expected to allow consumers to access local products and raise awareness about local production.
