
Participants from various sectors, including Ethiopian coffee exporters, farmers, and roasters, took part in the 2023 Oregon, Portland Specialty Coffee Expo. The Ethiopian Coffee Association, in collaboration with officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority, opened a specialty coffee exhibition booth at the event which attracted thousands of coffee buyers, roasters, technology companies, and other industry professionals who expressed a strong interest in establishing lasting partnerships.
During the event, the cupper led the first coffee cupping session, which was attended by numerous buyers who sampled Ethiopia's unique flavors and aromas. In addition, Adugna Debela, the Director General of ECTA, provided an overview of Ethiopian coffee, highlighting the sector's achievements in production and productivity, as well as the ease of doing business in Ethiopia. Presentation on Ethiopian coffee production, processing, and the scientific methods used to maintain its quality was also part of the event.
IllyCaffe and the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on training and capacity building for coffee cupping employees.
