The Ministry of Industry announced that Ethiopia Tamrit Expo 2023 will be launched on May 6. The expo will be held for five days at Millennium Hall, Addis Ababa, with a view to promoting Ethiopia’s products to the international market.

Both local and foreign manufacturers will be participating in the expo which was introduced in 2022. The Ethiopia Tamrit movement was launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed with the aim of realizing a competitive manufacturing industry by solving the bottlenecks in the sector.

According to Melaku Alebel, the Ministry of Industry, Ethiopia is trying to adopt the experiences of successful countries such as Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia to strengthen the manufacturing sector. Ethiopia Tamrit movement is expected to advance the capacity of manufacturing industries, widen market destinations for manufactured products and increase the volume of export, and strengthen import substitution.
