Terminal I of Bole International Airport, which was built by China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), has become operational. The terminal is situated on 16,689 square meters of land and is part of Ethiopian Airlines’ expansion project.
The terminal is expected to boost the capacity of the airport and contribute to the country’s economy. Bole International Airport is one of the biggest airports in Africa.
In December last year, the airline completed a study to commence construction of a mega airport in Oromia Regional State this year. The project will cost USD 5 billion and include modern hotels, duty free shopping centers, and a cargo logistics center. It is expected that the mega airport will have the capacity to handle 100 million passengers upon completion.
