Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE) announced that the dry port built to aid Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone was handling 10 trucks per day and providing streamlined logistics services.
Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone was established as part of Ethiopia’s 10 years development plan and launched in August this year by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Dire Dawa’s proximity to ports, market potential, and sustainability for multimodal transportation and logistics operation has made it preferable for Ethiopia’s first free trade zone.
The free trade zone is expected to provide support for the manufacturing, importing, and exporting procedures. It will also offer customs duties privileges and play a significant part in reducing the cost of logistics.
