The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and Oromia Cooperative Unions Expansion Agency signed an agreement to work together. The agreement will enable farmers to pay for fertilizes and agricultural equipment which they buy from the Agency using mobile banking.

Farmers can also buy fertilizers and agricultural produce from Unions of Agricultural Products Suppliers which are situated in Kebeles using mobile banking or CBE Birr. In addition, the agreement allows farmers to save up to Birr 30 thousand and buy agricultural inputs without opening bank accounts. CBE aims to make the entire transaction digital in the coming Ethiopian year.
