Ambassador Calls Japanese Companies to Invest in Ethiopia

Ethiopia Embassy in JapanEthiopian Ambassador to Japan, Tefera Derbew, called Japanese investors to invest in Ethiopia. Representatives of 13 Japanese companies were briefed about investment opportunities in Ethiopia, the level of infrastructure and business climate in the country, and incentives available for foreign investors during an investment seminar which was organized by Ethiopian Embassy in Japan.

The seminar also covered issues on agro processing, textiles and apparel, pharmaceuticals, minerals, and ICT industries. The companies that attended the seminar were engaged in energy, construction, agro processing, and ICT sectors.

Ethiopia exports various commodities to Japan including coffee and flowers. In May this year, Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia Ito Takako stated that the Government of Japan was considering to align its assistance to Ethiopia with Ethiopia’s Ten Year Development Plan.
