
TradeMark East Africa, Ethiopian Agricultural Authority (EAA), and Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association (EHPEA) inked an agreement to enhance service delivery. The agreement will enable EAA and EHPE to modernize their information and communication technology and digitalize their services.
Zelalem Melesse, President of EHPEA, stated during the signing ceremony that the agreement would increase the competitiveness of the horticulture sector in international markets. General Director of EAA, Ambassador Diriba Kuma, and the Director of TradeMark East Africa Ethiopia Branch, Ewnetu Taye, on their part, related that the agreement would enable the service delivery mechanisms of the institutions and the marketing system of the horticulture sector to follow modern standards.
According to EHPEA, 126 investments situated in Ethiopia are engaged in the export of flower, fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Currently 46 local and 76 foreign investors own farms that produce horticultural crops for export. The sector has created job opportunities for 199,640 individuals.
