A mango juice factory was launched in Bahir Dar on Saturday last week in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration. The juice factory called “Slice” is expected to produce 112 thousand liters of juice per day and 33.6 million litters of juice per year.

Endalew Mekonnen, State Minister of the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, stated that factories such as Slice strengthened Ethiopia’s effort to join the World Trade Organization. According to the State Minister, the Government of Ethiopia has designed a policy which encourages and attracts the private sector.

Slice is established by A Square A with a capital of Birr 200 million and will create job opportunities for 1,900 citizens when it becomes fully operational. It will also work directly with farmers to get inputs for production.
