United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Agriculture of Ethiopia (MoA) to enhance the Ethiopian coffee sector. Director and Representative of UNIDO Ethiopia, Patrizia Calabro, and Minster of Ministry of Agriculture, Oumer Hussein, signed the agreement which involves financial and technical cooperation.

According to Oumer Hussein, one of the major problems in the Ethiopian coffee value chain is the shortage of finance for coffee exportes, suppliers, and producers. It is hoped that the agreement will help in alleviating this problem by identifying and supporting investors in the coffee value chain.

The Italian Government granted €10 million for the realization of the agreement.
