Regulations Establishing the Ethiopian Construction Authority and Social Security Agency Get Approval

Council of Ministers Three RegulationsThree draft regulations got approval from the Council of Ministers today. A Regulation to establish the Ethiopian Agricultural Research Institute, a Regulation to establish the Social Security Agency for Government and Private Sector Employees, and a Regulation on the powers and responsibilities of the Ethiopian Construction Authority (ECA) were given a go ahead by the Council.

The draft Regulation to establish the Ethiopian Agricultural Institute is aimed at establishing an organization which will support Ethiopia’s export trade ambitions by developing agricultural technologies with effective research and strengthening institutional linkages. The Regulation delineating the powers and responsibilities of ECA, on the other hand, is expected to align the Ethiopian construction industry with modern technologies and enhance the efficiency of the industry. In addition, the regulation will also help control the cost, time, and quality of construction projects with the aim of ensuring the health and safety of citizens as well as the environment. The third Regulation which establishes the Social Security Agency was approved by the Council of Ministers to ensure the continuity and reliability of the pension system.

The regulations will come into force when they get published in the Federal Negarit Gazette.
