Ethio Telecom announced that it signed a partnership agreement with the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration to enable the customers of the Ministry settle their payments for the services delivered by the Ministry through Telebirr.

Customers of the Ministry can pay the fees required for commercial registration, trade license, and trade name related services using the Telebirr mobile application or dialing *127#.

The telecom reported that ETB 4.8 million was transferred through 38 thousand transactions within a short period of time after the payment method was introduced.

Ethio Telecom has signed several agreements with various Government institutions integrating the services delivered by these institutions with Telebirr. The digital cash system enables its 24.9 million users to access financial services including transferring money locally and making purchases online and at convenient stores.
