Public Procurement and Property Authority announced that it was working towards modernizing its services. During a workshop on private business which was organized in collaboration with the World Bank, the Authority’s Director Haji Ibsa revealed that his office was in the process of revising laws and regulations. He also stated that the Authority was working with the World Bank and other stakeholders to upgrade the finance system.
The Authority launched an electronic procurement system in 2021. The system, which is called Electronic Government Procurement (e-Gp) System, is a national electronic government procurement portal that uses an electronic system to handle transaction in the public procurement process. The system automates and streamlines the end-to-end public procurement process from the preparation and publication of annual procurement plans to administration of contracts. Suppliers can access e-Gp without the need to register while those who want to be registered suppliers can get registered at https://egp.ppa.gov.et/egp/home.
In related news, Ministry of Innovation and Technology stated that 326 government services were being provided online. The Ministry also announced that the payment systems of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia were linked to Tele Birr.
