The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration announced that the warehouse receipt system, which was launched in 2021, would be fully implemented.

The Ministry applied pilot warehouse receipt systems in 10 areas across Amhara and Oromia Regional States. Farmers, cooperatives, agricultural product processors and other depositors used these pilot projects and stored nearly 60 thousand quintals of agricultural products in standard warehouses.

The system was launched last year after 18 years since the Warehouse Receipt System Proclamation came into effect in 2003.

According to the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, the achievement of the pilot projects of the system will be evaluated and an agreement would be concluded to start full implementation.
