Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia started a series of customer network service trials in Dire Dawa on 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. Customers are advised that they are now able to purchase Safaricom Ethiopia’s SIM cards after choosing their phone numbers from the Safaricom line which starts with 07.
The telecom company stated that it had provided bundle package gifts with the SIM cards which would enable its customers to use internet, voice call, and text message services for one month. Safaricom’s customers will be able to make international calls and exchange messages and calls with subscribers of Ethio telecom services.
Safaricom, Sumitomo Corporation, CDC Group, and Vodacom came together to form Safaricom Ethiopia. The company won a license to operate in Ethiopia in May last year. It is expected that the company will invest up to USD 8.5 billion within the next 10 years.
