Ethiopian Investment Commission to Begin Study to Join Ethiopian Investment Holdings

Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) sets plans to undertake a feasibility study to join Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) as a budgetary public enterprise. The Commission is currently an autonomous government institution which is accountable to Ethiopia’s Investment Board. If it decides to join EIH when it completes its feasibility study, it will be the 28th public enterprise under the investment holdings.

EIH was founded in January 2022 as a holding company to become the strategic investment arm of the Government of Ethiopia responsible for providing professional oversight and optimizing commercial assets to unlock value.

Among other mandates, EIC is tasked with establishing a conducive investment climate and attract and retain investments. Its transformation is expected to boost private sector investment in all sectors of the economy. EIH, on the other hand, aims to attract investors by establishing a co-investment platform and consolidating assets for monetization.
