French Development Agency Continues to Support Ethiopia’s Economic Reforms

French Development Agency (AFD) Africa stated that France’s assistance in the ongoing economic reforms and other development agendas of Ethiopia will continue. AFD Africa’s Director Christian Yoka revealed that the Agency was supporting the economic reforms of the country which were being executed by the Government. He also noted that the officials from the Ministry of Finance held discussions with the Agency on the Government’s development priorities.

According to the Director, the Government’s priority areas include job creation and balancing development in the dynamic urbanization process of the country. He remarked that the Agency would work on agriculture and food security, bio-diversity, and supporting urban development in the near future.

AFD supports Ethiopia in the fields of energy, water, and urban planning. It also assists the private sector. The Agency started operating in Ethiopia in 1993 and it claims to have benefitted 2.5 million Ethiopians from projects.
