Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan Jemal Beker and Wube Mengistu, Deputy Head of Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA), agreed to work together with a view to assessing market opportunities in Pakistan. The two sides also discussed ways to make the Ethiopian business community globally competitive.
Ambassador Jemal noted that linkages between Ethiopia’s and Pakistan’s Chambers of Commerce should be created while the Deputy Head of Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce asserted that his association was committed to assist in developing the capacity of the private sector including the supply of quality products to the international market.
In February this year, Ambassador Redwan Hussein, State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with the Office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Board of Investment, the Chamber of Commerce of Islamabad, and Company CEOs in Pakistan.
During their meeting with the State Minister, Islamabad’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed their interest to conduct business with Ethiopian investors and collaborate with the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations.
Ethiopia exports cereals, tea leaves, spices and textiles to Pakistan while importing sugar products, rice, packaging bag, and medical supplies from Pakistan.
