Ethiopia's Ministry of Revenues announced that it has collected over 27.13 billion birr in the thirty-day period from March 10 to April 8, 2022, achieving 99.67 percent of its target of collecting 27.22 billion birr.
Compared to the same period last year, the amount has shown a rise of 6.12 billion birr, a growth of 29.11 percent, Lake Ayalew, the Minister of Revenues, related.
52 percent of the total amount, 14.15 billion birr, has been collected from local tax, while the remaining 48 percent, amounting to 12.99 billion birr, has bee secured from customs duties.
The Minister pointed out this is a remarkable achievement considering several challenges posed due to security issues in some areas, as well as the effects of the pandemic. He has extended thanks to honest taxpayers who pay their taxes on time, as well the staff of the Ministry and customs offices at various levels, and all stakeholders and the general public for the achievement.
