Southwest Ethiopia Presents 39,000 Tons of Coffee to Central Market

coffee-plantationEthiopia's newest Southwest region's coffee and tea authority announced that it has presented over 39,000 tons of coffee to the central market. The region aims to present 61,864 tons of coffee during the Ethiopian fiscal year that started on July 8, 2021.

Out of the 39,000 tons, 20,000 have been cultivated from the Bench Sheko zone, it has been learned.

Asrat Mekuria, head of the region's coffee and tea authority, remarked the Southwest region has immense potential in harvesting coffee, tea, and spices.

The region is said to have the potential to cultivate coffee from 541,141 hectares of land. So far, 300,000 hectares are covered with coffee plantations.
