Ethiopia: Nine Road Projects Costing 1.9Bn Birr Inaugurated in Addis Ababa

nine-road-projects-addis-ababaAddis Ababa City Administration announced that it has inaugurated road projects all over the city, close to 20km long and with varying width, built at a cost of over 1.9 billion birr. The newly finished road projects will "aid [the city's] social and economic development by facilitating traffic flow," Adanech Abiebie, Addis Ababa's mayor, said in a social media post.

These completed road projects in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, are:

  • Qusquam to Entoto - 4.3km long and 16m wide, with pedesterian walkway
  • Shiro Meda to Qusquam - 2.6km long and 30m wide
  • Wello Sefer to Urael - 1.4km long and 35m wide
  • La Gare to Washington DC Square - 1.56km long and 13m wide
  • Gerji Roba to Mebrat Hayil - 973m long and 30m wide
  • Woyira to Bethel - 1.4km long and 20m wide
  • CMC Michael overpass - 680m long and 30m wide
  • Ras Desta to Qechenei - 2.5km long and 20m wide
  • Haile Garment to Jemo - 4.5km long and 120m wide with bicycle track, pedesterian walkway, green area, and sewage line

The Mayor has also pointed out two parking areas at Entoto, 9,600m2 wide, with capacity to park 2,321 vehicles at once, have also been inaugurated. The other projects reported completed include:

  • Three-storey school building resting on 513m2 at Entoto Amba School,
  • Pedesterian pavements that are 11.8km long and 3.5km wide, and
  • 614 lamp posts and 18 high-power lighting towers.

Mayor Adanech has said her administration will continue its work of making Addis Ababa "clean, beautiful, and comfortable for its inhabitants."
