Ethiopia's Ministry of Finance said it has prepared an additional budget of 122 billion birr, and presented it for approval to the Council of Ministers.
The additional budget is aimed at enhancing national security, humanitarian efforts, rehabilitation for people affected by the ongoing conflict, as well as other important government tasks, the Ministry announced.
The need for additional budget has been necessitated mainly due to the strain caused by the war in northern Ethiopia. This has made it difficult for the government to meet ends related to payment requests, the Ministry related, and hence additional budget is required.
The additional budget will be allocated after it gains approval by the House of Peoples' Representatives.
