Commercial Bank of Ethiopia Secures $2.64Bn Forex from Remittances in a Year

cbe logoCommercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) announced that it has secured $2.64 billion in foreign exchange from remittances sent home during the Ethiopian fiscal year that ended on July 8, 2021.

The bank made the announcement during a ceremony it held to draw winners of a lottery scheme to encourage customers to receive remittances from its branches.

Winning numbers of the lottery, which is on its 23rd round, have been announced. The winners get a car, tri-wheelers and motorbikes, as well as twenty laptops.

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia is the largest bank in East Africa, with total assets close to a trillion birr.
