Ethiopia's Ministry of Mines announced that it has earned $241 million from the export of gold during the last five months. Takele Uma, Ethiopia's Minister of Mines, called the achievement "encouraging" despite various challenges posed especially due to security issues around mining sites.
The Minister said the results achieved so far stand to testify that mining can be a key pillar to Ethiopia's economy if all work in tandem facing and solving all challenges faced in the industry.
