Ethiopia's Ministry of Trade and Industry announced that $311.5 million has been obtained from exports during the one-month period from October 11 to November 9, 2021. The amount stands at 86.8 percent of the $358.9 million target set for the period.
Out of this, the agriculture sector took the lion's share, contributing $205.9 million, followed by the mining sector at $58.5 million. The industry sector contributed $39.6 million, while $7.54 million was obtained mainly from the export of electricity.
The Ministry highlighted several strategic works are underway to improve Ethiopia's export performance, such as increasing export destinations, and exploring bilateral cooperations and negotiations.
Moreover, Ethiopia is looking for market opportunities that can effectively replace the gap that may be created by the discontinuity of the AGOA benefit.
