The Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Industry (MoTI) announced that the country has secured $16.41 million in the first month of the new fiscal year that started on July 8, 2021. The amount stands at 69 percent of the $23.88 million target set for the period.
Compared to the same period of last year, the amount has shown an increase of $7.47 million (14.2 percent). The additional earning has been due to new manufacturers that went operational this year, MoTI related. The Ministry, however, has not explained why it fell 31 percent short of its target.
Debreberhan Industrial Park has been the top achiever exporting over six-fold of its target (633 percent), followed by Dire Dawa Industrial Park (241 percent of its target), and Kombolcha Industrial Park (102 percent of its target).
Bole Lemi Industrial Park has achieved 96 percent of its target for the period, while ICT Park, Eastern Industrial Park, and Hawassa Industrial Park achieved 88 percent, 83 percent, and 79 percent of their targets, respectively.
