Ethiopia Earns $681 Mn from Mines

Mines Ministry LogoEthiopia's Ministry of Mines and Petroleum announced that it has secured $681 million from the export of mines in the recently concluded Ethiopian budget year.

The Ministry has noted that the amount obtained in the budget year which ended on July 7, 2021, is the highest compared to forex obtained in the sector in previous years.

Takele Uma, Ethiopia's Minister of Mines and Petroleum, vowed the ministry will register even higher forex earnings in the coming year.

"I have no doubt we will achieve the goal we set and make mining a pillar of our economy," he said in a Facebook post.

In the coming year, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has a plan to secure forex earning of $1.5 billion.
