Printing Plant Worth Over $32 Mn Inaugurated in Ethiopia

melba-printingMelba Printing, Publishing and Packaging plant, a printing and packaging factory built at a cost of over $32 million (1.4 billion birr), has been inaugurated. The plant has a capacity of producing over 138,000 books a day, 50 million a year. The plant is located in the town of Gelan, in Ethiopia's Oromia region.

Shimelis Abdissa, president of the Oromia region, along with other high-ranking government officials, have been present during the inauguration of the plant.

The enormous printing and packaging plant is expected to play a crucial role in saving foreign currency through the substitution of overseas printing, publishing, and packaging with high-quality local production. Moreover, the company aims to provide high-quality printing and packaging services to African countries in the region.

Melba Printing, Publishing and Packaging plant has created employment opportunities for more than 500 people, it was learned.
