Ethiopia's Ministry of Revenues Collects $5.56 Bn in 10 Months

revenues-ministry-logo.pngEthiopia's Ministry of Revenues announced that it has collected over $5.56 billion( 238.3 billion birr) in ten months of the fiscal year that started in July, 2020. The amount stands at 98.24 percent of the 242.63 billion birr target collection the ministry set for the period.

The ministry remarked that the amount collected has shown an increase of 19.77 percent, close to 39.34 billion birr, compared to the previous fiscal year.

The amount is collected from domestic tax, export tax, and lottery sales, the ministry related. Out of the 238.3 billion birr, domestic tax accounted for 145.55 billion, export tax accounted for 92.61 billion, while revenue collected from lottery sales amounted to 193.27 million.

Lake Ayalew, Ethiopia's Minister of Revenues, said the amount of revenue collected is "quite good", especially considering current situations in the country.

The minister has extended thanks to all shareholders whose contributions he said were invaluable in achieving the result.
