Ethiopian Ministry of Transport signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with DP World UAE, a maritime gateway and hub, for the development of the Berbera Corridor.
The singing of the MoU is consecutive to the Ethiopian Transport Investment Summit 2021, Ethiopian Minister of Transport Dagmawit Moges said in a tweet.
"Ethiopia aims to diversify its port access facilities and services to improve its trade corridor access routes," Ms. Dagmawit noted. Consequently, the Berbera Corridor "will have [the] potential to make Ethiopia a front runner in logistics operations, boosting the competitive advantage of delivering our products to the world."
The development of the Corridor is aimed at meeting the growing demand of Ethiopia's international trade, as well as enhance the country's capacity in utilizing existing major corridors both in terms of volume of trade and efficiency.
