Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, along with his predecessor Hailemariam Dessalegn and other government officials, inaugurated the Yirgalem Integrated Agro-Industrial Park in Ethiopia's Sidama region. "Sitting on 294.5 hectares, the industry park’s potential value chain includes fruits and vegetables, dairy, meat, poultry, coffee, cereal and pulses, using produce from local farmers as input," PM Abiy said in a tweet.
So far, eleven production sites have been built, out of which four have already started production. These are engaged in the production and processing of avocado oil, honey, and coffee capsules. Eight additional manufacturing plants will start functioning soon after installing machinery and other equipment and create market linkages.
