Netherlands Ranks Top Export Destination for Ethiopia

/export-destinations-2019-20The Netherlands has become Ethiopia’s number one export destination, Ethiopia's Ministry of Trade Announced. During the 2019/20 fiscal year that ended on July 7, Ethiopia has exported over $322 million worth of commodities to the Netherlands, the Ministry declared. The Netherlands is also the top investor from European nations in Ethiopia.

The export commodities traded include flower, coffee, fruits and vegetables, juice, apparel, shoes, leather, honey, khatt, alcoholic beverages, electronics, bee wax, and cereals.

The Netherlands is also the top investor from European nations in Ethiopia with over 150 investments.

The second major destination for Ethiopian export products is the United States, receiving $295.8 million worth of exports during the year.

The East African nation exported apparel, coffee, Flower Leather products, flour, chemical and construction materials, minerals such as gold, oilseeds, and alcoholic beverage worth of 295 million US dollars.

During this recently concluded fiscal year, over $298.2 million worth of commodities were also exported to neighboring Somalia, becoming the third-largest importer of Ethiopian products, followed by Saudi Arabia and Germany, according to the Ministry.
