Ethiopia's Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has issued mineral exploration and production licenses to 12 companies. The companies have a combined capital of $11.17 million (402 million birr).
The Ministry has explained ten of the twelve licenses are for mineral exploration, while the two are for the production of minerals.
The ten companies licensed for mineral exploration will conduct explorations of gold, iron ore, manganese, chromite, silver, and gemstone. The two companies will produce basalt and limestone.
The twelve companies will create employment for 480 workers, it was learned.
