The investment commission of Ethiopia's Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region announced it has issued licenses to investors who have a combined capital of over $279 million (9.8 billion birr) in the recently concluded Ethiopian fiscal year.
Asrat Assefa, Commissioner of the region's investment commission, said the licenses issued involved 454 projects in the sectors of agriculture, service delivery, and industrial production.
Highlighting the projects during the year has seen an increase of 6 billion birr in worth compared to the previous year, Mr. Asrat owed the improvement to better peace in the region and trade promotion to attract the diaspora.
The 454 projects are expected to create over 53,000 jobs.
