Ethiopia Earns $3 Bn from Exports in a Year

Ethiopia has collected over $3 billion from exports in the recently concluded fiscal year, the Ministry of Trade and Industry announced. The figure has shown an increase of 13 percent compared to last year.

77 percent of the $3 billion has been obtained from the export of agricultural produce, while 20 percent has been attributed to the export of manufactured goods and minerals. Coffee, flowers, cereals, oilseeds, khat, fruits, and vegetables have been mentioned as the major contributors to the rise in exports.

Earnings from the export of meat and gold have also seen a rise compared to the figures from the previous year.

The Ministry highlighted measures taken such as institutional integration, expansion of infrastructure, and COVID-19 prevention measures as major factors for the increase in export earnings.
