Ethiopia's Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Innovation and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the intent of advancing a coffee trade system. Omer Hussien, Minister of Agriculture, and Abraham Belay (Ph.D.), Minister of Innovation and Technology, inked the MoU on behalf of their minister offices.
The MoU is aimed at developing a digital platform that will create a direct link between coffee farmers in Ethiopia to consumers around the globe, and improve the performance of Ethiopian coffee in international trade.
Consequently, it was learned, a new coffee trade system will be developed, and it will have a companion mobile application to enable stakeholders to exchange information in an online system.
