Ethiopia, France Ink €20 Mn Grant Agreements

Ethiopia and France yesterday signed two grant agreements totaling €20 million. The grants are for the renovation of the National Palace, and to support a program of the Agricultural Transformation Agency.

Ahmed Shide, Ethiopia's Minister of Finance, and Valerie Tehio, Country-Director of Agence Française de Développement (AFD) inked the agreements.

€12 million of the first grant agreement will be used to partially finance the first phase of the renovation and opening of the National Palace, the Ministry of Finance disclosed. The remaining €8 million of the second grant agreement will be used to support the Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) MSMEs Development program, which is part of the Agriculture Commercialization Cluster (ACC) program that has been supported by other development partners, such as the Danish and Dutch Embassies and the European Union.
