Ethiopia Secures $400Mn in 9 Months from Horticulture Exports

Ethiopia has earned close to $400 million from the export of horticultural products in the last nine months, Ethiopia's Ministry of Agriculture announced.

Mekonnen Solomon, Director of Horticulture Investment at the Ministry of Agriculture, said the earning has shown an increase of over $80 million compared to the same period last year, during which $318 million was secured.

Mr. Mekonnen noted the export of the flower bouquet has also resumed as some countries are easing coronavirus restrictions. Consequently, fifty to sixty percent of flower companies have re-started exporting their products.

“This sector will recover soon than other sectors as the global flower market is fast returning to normalcy,” the director highlighted.
