Ethiopia Sets Aside Over $153 Mn, Closes Borders Prepping to Tackle COVID-19

Ethiopia has closed its borders and allocated $153.4 million (5 billion birr) as it braces to tackle the spread of COVID-19. As of today, Ethiopia has announced 12 confirmed cases of the coronavirus pandemic.

As Ethiopia closes its land borders and deploys security forces, the Office of the Prime Minister has noted that the restrictions do not apply to the movement of essential goods.

All passengers arriving in Ethiopia are subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantined at designated centers and hotels at their own cost.
