Aisha Mohammed, Ethiopia’s Minister of Urban Development and Construction, announced Ethiopia has embarked on 12 new projects aimed at bringing meaningful changes in urban areas. The minister made the announcement during her discussion with Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Executive Director of UN‐Habitat.
The discussion between Ms. Aisha and Ms. Sharif was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on the sidelines of currently ongoing the 10th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF).
The Minister went on to say that the Ethiopian government is committed to executing the projects that are designed in accordance with the 10-year master plan. On the occassion, she also requested UN‐Habitat’s support for the successful implementation of the projects.
Commending Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to bring transformation in urban areas and stressing the importance of properly managing the growing urbanization, The UN-Habitat Executive Director expressed UN‐Habitat’s readiness to provide support to Ethiopia’s urban projects.
