The year 2020 would be "historic" for Ethiopia-China ties, Tan Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia said in a press conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He expressed expectations for ties between the two countries to strengthen in economy, capacity building, hi-tech, politics, health, and education.

Mr. Jian called attention to "the remarkable achievements" in China-Ethiopia relations in the year 2019, including the cooperation on the successful launch of Ethiopia’s first-ever remote sensing satellite, ETRSS-1 earlier this month.

“Driven by the momentum gathered from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and the Belt and Road Initiative, notable achievements were achieved in China-Ethiopia relations in 2019,” he noted.
