New Cooking Oil Factory to be Built in Ethiopia's Capital

MIDROC Ethiopia is to build a cooking oil factory in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa worth four billion USD. The cornerstone for the factory has been laid down in the presence of Takele Uma, Deputy Mayor of the city.

The factory will be able to produce 600,000 liters of cooking per day once it goes functional. The Deputy Mayor, commending the efforts of MIDROC, called on other investors to contribute their parts in a similar aspect as well.

The factory will be up and running in a year and a half, and Mr. Takele has pledged his administration's support for the timely completion of the factory.

Ethiopia's demand for edible oil is ever-growing, and this factory aims to cut cooking oil import by up to 25 percent.
