Ethiopia and Japan signed a grant agreement of $12.7 million for road maintenance in Ethiopia, specifically in the capital Addis Ababa. Signing the agreement were Ahmed Shide, Ethiopia's Minister of Finance, and Matsunaga Daisuke, Japan's Ambassador to Ethiopia.
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Ahmed remarked the grant will help improve traffic flow in Addis, enhance travel times and quality of roads, and reduce traffic accidents in the city. He further indicated the agreement will further strengthen cooperation and partnership between Ethiopia and Japan.
Ambassador Daisuke on his part said the project will contribute to the economic revitalization and improvement of access to social services in Addis Ababa. Japan will continue to support Ethiopia’s development endeavors through various assistance projects and other modalities, he vowed.
